The Opnet Simulator will help us to test and improve our solutions in the different topics:
- Routing and QoS ;
- Wireless ad hoc networks ;
- Wireless multimedia sensor networks ;
- Cross-layer design for wireless networks ;
- Next generation networks and MIMO.
More specifically, we proposed a new routing protocol (HQAX)
[1] based on a cost function in order to improve the throughput and to
reduce the delay and packet losses in Wireless Multimedia Sensor
Networks [2] (the cross-layer approach is used for the cost function in
order to take into account the physical and MAC layers parameters at
the routing level). The goals is to implemente and evaluate our
proposed routing protocol in comparison with other existing protocols
like AODV and OLSR which had been adapted to cope with the features and
characteristics of multi-tier WMSNs.
Another work [2] concerns the comparison of the 802.11 MAC layers and
the propagation models between in a real testbed and different
simulators.
We made also a comparison performance between the 802.15.4 MAC layers
impemented in different simulators and a real ZigBee testbeb [3]
