McDonnell Douglas Corp said it receivedauthorization to build larger solid rocket boosters than the
U.S. Air Force originally planned.
    McDonnell Douglas, which said it subcontracts the orders,
also said the new solid rocket boosters will be 42 feet long,
increased from the original 36-foot long type. The company said
the additional size will cost the Air Force 10.3 mln dlrs.
